How to Manage Optimized WordPress FTP Accounts
Optimized WordPress (OWP) allows transmission of files via FTP, which you can set up within your Customer Portal.

How to create an FTP account
To create a new FTP account for your Optimized WordPress:
- Log in to your Customer Portal.
- Click the Hosting tab.
- Locate your Optimized WordPress hosting, then click its Manage link.
- Click Manage FTP.
- Click the Create a new FTP account button.
- Select the prefix for your username and provide a password or select to have a password generated for you.
- Click the Create Account button.
- A confirmation prompt will appear, notifying you of the status of your new FTP account.
- If successful, the FTP details will be provided on the same page.
How to log in to your FTP account
Using an FTP account is identical to FTP on any other HostGator server. Simply use your preferred FTP software with the following settings:
- Host: You can either use your Optimized WordPress hosting IP address, server name, or a domain that is pointed to that IP address.
- Username: Use the username you provided when creating the account along with the domain of the installation as your full username:
Example: snappyftp@hgexample.com
- Password: Use the password you provided when creating the account.
- Port: 21

How to manage your FTP account
You can manage your Optimized WordPress FTP account(s) within your Customer Portal. You can change your FTP password, change your FTP quota or delete the FTP account.
- Log in to your Customer Portal.
- Click the Hosting tab.
- Locate your Optimized WordPress hosting, then click its Manage link.
- Click Manage FTP.
- Click the gear icon next to the FTP account you want to manage.
- Select action from the dropdown.
Change the FTP password
To change the password of your Optimized WordPress FTP account:
- Click Change FTP Password.
- Enter the desired password or use the password generator to make a secure password for you.
- Click the Change Password button.
You will now be able to use your new password to log into your FTP account.
Adjust FTP quota
By default, an Optimized WordPress FTP account is set to an unlimited quota; however, you may restrict the account to a limited transfer per month.
To set or adjust the quota of your Optimized WordPress FTP account:
- Click Change FTP Quota.
- Uncheck the No Quota (Unlimited) checkbox.
- Enter the desired quota in Megabytes.
- Click the Update Account Quota button.
To undo this change, simply follow the steps again and place a checkmark in the No Quota (Unlimited) checkbox before clicking the Change Quota button.
Delete an FTP account
To delete an Optimized WordPress FTP account:
- Click Delete FTP Account.
- Select "Yes, I give permission to delete this FTP account." to confirm the deletion.
- Click the Delete this FTP Account button.
