SiteLock Prevent Plus Post Clean Steps

Once you have purchased SiteLock Prevent Plus, it will have to go through a setup process to clean your site, but don't worry, you don't have to lift a finger! This article will explain what to expect and any steps that need to be taken during and after the cleaning process.

Please Note: Once the cleaning process has begun, you should not make any changes to the site. You should wait until after being notified that your website has been cleaned and the suspension has been lifted.

Initial Setup

The system will autoconfigure the Scanner and CDN/WAF. You will not be able to see the scan running, much like antivirus on your computer, but the SMART Scan and TrueShield Dashlets will show as Pending until their initial setup has been completed.

Note: Due to SSL verification, the TrueShield Dashlet may be in Pending status for up to 72 hrs.

During the Cleaning Process

Your Very Own SiteLock Analyst

As a free bonus for getting the SiteLock Prevent Plus, and to ensure that all the steps in resolving your clean are complete, SiteLock will provide you with a dedicated SiteLock Analyst. This will usually be the representative who helped set up the Prevent Plus for you.

Email Updates

You will receive some automated emails and emails directly from your analyst. The SMART scanner, which is involved in cleaning your site, will send automated emails with limited information. Your analyst will send you more detailed information with information such as:

  • Detailed information on the clean request
  • Actions items taken
  • Any additional action items needed

 

Post-Clean Steps

Once your site has been cleaned, we will need to review your site again to lift the suspension, and then you may also have to get your website removed from blacklists. 

The following steps must be done in order because Sitelock Support will be unable to assist with getting your site removed from any blacklists until your account's suspension has been lifted. You will need to wait until you receive the 'clean completion email' from SiteLock and then for HostGator to inform you that the account suspension has been lifted.

 

If Your Account is Suspended

Once your site is clean, your SiteLock Analyst will notify you and HostGator that your website was submitted to us for review. SiteLock requests that we expedite the suspension review process, so review requests submitted to HostGator should only take up to 48 hours.

Note: Once you have received the email notifying you that the clean has been completed, you can reach out to us via phone or Live Chat to see if we can further expedite the review process.

If your website is blacklisted:

As mentioned above, Sitelock cannot assist you until HostGator notifies you that your account is no longer suspended. Once that happens, you can contact SiteLock Support so that they can submit their review to any organizations that blacklisted your website so they can remove you from their list.

Note: Each organization that has blacklisted your website has its own turnaround time for review. Some can take up to a few weeks.

Preventative Steps

CMS Updates

If you are using any of the popular CMS platforms such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc., you should check for and apply any updates a few times a week and delete any unused plugins or themes.
