If you read my recent post, Company Email, then you may have noticed we’ve had a recent cut in employees. What does this mean for you? Well, if you are a customer, this means that we are now left with the high performing employees that really care about keeping your sites up and running. And if you are looking for a job in the web hosting industry, then this may be your chance to get on board the Gator!

Getting 'on board' the Gator
No, not literally!
Previous web hosting experience is a requirement for all positions, and knowledge of cPanel and WHM is a big plus. We need people who can communicate clearly to customers, express themselves well through livechat and trouble tickets, and are able to work in a fast paced, fast growing, team environment.

Please note that these positions are only available at our HOUSTON, TEXAS location. We are not looking for remote employees at this time; we prefer to yell at you in person! ;-)

We are currently looking for employees in the following fields:

Live Chat & Phone Technicians.
This is a great way to start on the ground floor of HostGator. If you have experience with web hosting, web design, or general troubleshooting, and enjoy helping others with solutions to their problems, then this may be the position for you. Our Chat & Phone techs are the backbone of HostGator. This position leaves plenty of room for you to move up in the company and is a great way to get your foot in the door.

Level I-III Technical Support.
If you have a strong Linux hosting or Windows hosting background, we’d love to hear from you. Our Level I-III Technical Support is responsible for monitoring services and ensuring each and every server is up and running smoothly. Other responsibilities include interacting directly with clients through a trouble ticket environment and troubleshooting more advanced, escalated issues.

Linux System Administration.
Know everything there is to know about Linux? Recompile kernels in your sleep? Do you dream in bash? Love Red Bull and Caffeine Pills? This may be the job for you. We are looking for extremely talented individuals who can not only solve highly technical problems, but learn, create, and automate solutions on the fly. If you are currently working for another Web Hosting company in the industry, or are just looking for a new job and have the skills, we will provide relocation assistance from anywhere in the USA. Think you are qualified to tackle HostGator’s most difficult and extreme situations? Send your resume below to schedule an interview.

Our offices are staffed 24/7, and immediate openings are available for all shifts. I’m sure you would love to know that we pay very competitively. Not only that, we are a relaxed environment! T-shirts and jeans will likely do just as well for you as a suit and tie. It’s all about what you know, and what you are willing to learn. Big degrees and nice shoes will rarely impress us. We offer flexible scheduling, and a full benefits package is available. As seen on the Office Tour we have a Fitness Gym, Game Room and a large screen TV available to all employees. All system admins receive triple monitor work stations, and we order Pizza for all shifts on Fridays!

Be a Gator!Salary is based on experience.

  1. Too bad there are no remote employees needed, would be interested and got enough experience, but I am in EU so pretty much on the other end of the world, but the positions look very promising. Good luck to all applying to the positions and to the company for finding the best possible support material.

  2. I`m learning some hosting stuff now like making my own server in home CentOS, Cpanel/WHM etc, i will do it if i fell like (Professional) i just wanna free PIZZA.:D

  3. Need to know whether you people hire people from all over the world. Example(India) :) Waiting for your reply

  4. I applied and got a job as a customer service tech, I also referred someone that is highly qualified for a Linux/Windows administrator position with 15+ years experience.

    Hope he gets it :]

  5. Brent,

I figure it is quite bold of me to comment to the CEO’s post directly, but from what I read you are very involved with the everyday comings and goings of your company. So, even though this post I am commenting on is a year old; I am writing to tell you I put my application in today and would be more than happy to relocate to Houston from San Antonio if your team feels I would be a good addition to it.

  6. This sounds like an amazing company to work for.I am interested in all 3 positions currently posted on your website. I have worked in the computer industry for over 10 years and have my Associates in Applied Science in Networking and a CCNA. Where/Who do I send my resume to? I can be reached by my email as I check it regularly. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
    Best Reguards,

  7. Hi,

I have 5+ years experience in webhosting company (India) and have done RHCE. Is there any chance I can work remotely and provide technical assistance to customer?

Looking forward for your positive response.

  8. Application submitted! I found your blogs fun to read! LOVED the perks, errr, benefits and I think you’d be a great company to work for! I live in Houston but I have roots in Austin too… so either way – its good! PICK ME!!!!

  9. If you’re not hiring any place else other than Texas, then why place your ad on billboards in other states? I live in Tucson Arizona and there is a billboard with your ad on it, looking for people experienced in Linux. I am in need of a job, but since you aren’t offering remote jobs I will remain unemployed.

  10. Saw your billboard in Flint,

I’ve been running servers with LAMP stacks for over five years now, mainly as a hobby. Before servers I’ve been using Linux on the desktop since kernel 2.4 and RHL. ;) I’ll sometimes switch it up with FreeBSD every so often, usually out of boredom. I’ve been with FreeBSD since the v5 releases. I know my way around, needless to say. Heck, I even write my own software and shell scripts. ;)

Too bad I live in Michigan! I may even relocate if you folks are interested in hiring a neckbeard like myself.

    1. We are more than interested in speaking with you. We also provide relocation assistance to accepted out of state applicants. Fill out our application at: http://secure.hostgator.com/jobs/app_linux.php and we will set up a phone interview with you. If you are approved to move on to a 2nd interview, we will fly you to either Austin or Houston for a weekend. Good Luck and hope to have you join the family!

  11. Did I mention that I LOVE man pages, and I write self-documenting code with fabulously outlined coding styles? I don’t think I did.
