How to Change Name Servers with Name.com
While HostGator cannot modify DNS at third party registrars on your behalf, we can provide you with instructions on how to do so. Please also note that these instructions may change without us knowing. Here's how you can change your DNS at Name.com.
Step 1: Find the Name Servers for your Hosting Account
The first step is to find out which name servers you should use for your HostGator hosting account; this varies by server and hosting. For instructions on how to find your DNS, please read the following article:
Step 2: Update your Name Servers
- Sign in to your Name.com account.
- Navigate to the My Domains button in the upper right-hand corner.
- Click on the domain name you are modifying.
- On the sidebar, click on Manage Nameservers.
- Click on the Delete all button to clear current nameservers entries. You may also delete them one at a time by selecting Delete on the right-hand side.
- Enter the new nameserver in the Add Nameserver box, then click the blue Add button. Make sure that you only add one at a time.
- Click Save Changes.
A notification will show that your update was applied successfully.
Once you have made changes to your DNS at the registrar, there will be 24-48 hours of DNS propagation time, during which your website and email may not be available.
HostGator customers can change their domain DNS within the cPanel interface. For more information, please see the related articles:
