iWeb
Apple iWeb is a template-based WYSIWYG website creation tool. Your iWeb program is designed by default to publish a site to your MobileMe account (formerly your .mac account); however, you can publish to another hosting company, like HostGator.
Instructions will vary depending on the version of the software you have.
Version 3 or Newer
To publish your site:
- Open iWeb and select the name of the site you wish to publish from the list in the left sidebar. The site publishing settings window will appear.
- Choose the FTP server from the Publish drop-down menu in the settings window.
- Enter the following information:
- Shared IP address from your welcome email (As FTP server address)
- Username for cPanel
- Password for cPanel
- Port 21
- Click Test Connection. This will ensure that the information has been correctly entered.
- Enter the URL for your website.
- Click Publish Site.
iWeb may appear to publish to a folder that is not what you have specified. However, this is simply how iWeb works, and everything will publish correctly.
Older Versions
To publish your site:
- Open iWeb and select the site you wish to publish.
- From the file menu, select Publish to a Folder.
