Aside from the transferring service that HostGator offers, you can opt to move your Joomla site on your own. The following steps offer a basic guideline of what is required to manually transfer the Joomla site yourself:
- Backup files
- Backup MySQL database
- Restore site files
- Edit site files
- Restore the MySQL database
