Using an SSL Certificate in Plesk

Once you have either created or uploaded an SSL certificate via the Control Panel, you can set your site to use it.

  1. Go to the Websites & Domains and select your domain name from the list at the bottom of the page, under the major sections we were using earlier.
  2. The next page is similar to one we saw before when setting up the subscription, but we only need to set one option. In the middle of the page is a checkbox labeled Enable SSL support (which you should ensure is checked) and a dropdown box labeled Certificate below it. In the dropdown box, select the certificate you created earlier.
  3. When you click on the Save button at the bottom of the page, the server will apply your changes and you should see a banner at the top informing you that the changes were successful. At this point, you should visit your site using an https:// URL and make sure it's working. If you used a self-signed certificate, you will likely need to confirm a warning dialog first.
    • You may also get a warning that the site is only partially encrypted. This is because WordPress is using http:// for objects (like images) on the page instead of https://. There are plugins to fix this for you, such as "WordPress HTTPS (SSL)", but we will not be going into them here.
