Using an SSL Certificate in Plesk
Once you have either created or uploaded an SSL certificate via the Control Panel, you can set your site to use it.
- Go to the Websites & Domains and select your domain name from the list at the bottom of the page, under the major sections we were using earlier.
- The next page is similar to one we saw before when setting up the subscription, but we only need to set one option. In the middle of the page is a checkbox labeled Enable SSL support (which you should ensure is checked) and a dropdown box labeled Certificate below it. In the dropdown box, select the certificate you created earlier.
- When you click on the Save button at the bottom of the page, the server will apply your changes and you should see a banner at the top informing you that the changes were successful. At this point, you should visit your site using an https:// URL and make sure it's working. If you used a self-signed certificate, you will likely need to confirm a warning dialog first.
- You may also get a warning that the site is only partially encrypted. This is because WordPress is using http:// for objects (like images) on the page instead of https://. There are plugins to fix this for you, such as "WordPress HTTPS (SSL)", but we will not be going into them here.
