HostGator Cloud & Optimized WordPress - Hardware Lifecycling & Software Upgrades

In an effort to improve uptime and stability, we are upgrading our Cloud and Optimized WordPress web hosting servers’ hardware and software starting mid-May 2023. If you are a Cloud or Optimized WordPress hosting account owner, we’ve sent an email to the account’s primary email address providing the migration date for your server.

The following are answers to common questions you may have about this server upgrade. 

What are the benefits of the upgrade?

Here are some of the benefits of the upgrade:

• All servers will have a solid-state drive (SSD) backed storage. This means much faster access and write times for data.
• Moving to Intel(R) Xeon(R) E5 processors vs. existing AMD.

When will the upgrade happen?

The scheduled maintenance will begin mid-May 2023. During this time, your server may experience intermittent downtime. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Make sure to check your email to find the specific day your server will be upgraded.

Will there be any downtime?

While we upgrade your server with new hardware and software, we expect there to be downtime for your website(s) and email, as well as an inability to access your server through cPanel.

We assure you that every effort is being made to minimize any impact on your site(s) and ensure that your environment is restored to normal operation as soon as possible.
