Unlimited Domains, What Does That Mean?

What does HostGator mean when they offer unlimited domains for Baby and Business Cloud hosting?

  • This means we allow you to host any number of domains (also known as websites) as you need for one low price and no additional charge for each domain you add. These domains, also called Addon domains, can be added to your cPanel.

HostGator offers Cloud hosting plans that can host unlimited addon domains except for the Cloud Hatching plan. To learn more about Addon domains, please check out the article, What is an Addon Domain?

  • You can create multiple websites with one main domain by creating subdomains. A subdomain is a secondary space in your website like blogs forums, support, etc., like support.example.com.

You can visit the article What is a Subdomain Name & How to Create One to learn more about subdomains.

Things to remember before hosting a domain

  1. You must own the domain names that you want to use.
If you do not own a domain, you typically want to register (buy) to use with your hosting. If you want more than one domain name, you will need to register each domain before you can use it.

  2. Domain registration is not free.
Most registrars charge $10 to $20 per year for a domain name. Sometimes, you can find deals for cheaper domain names, and some domain TLDs (types like .us and .co) cost more.

  3. There is no charge when you create subdomains.
Subdomain names are created in your cPanel using the main domain name, which you should register first.
