Trademarks in Domain Names

Many corporations refuse to allow their brands to be used in domain names to avoid negative representation of their company and illegal activities such as phishing. Below is a list of companies which we will not allow to be included in domain name registration.

  • 3M
  • AOL
  • Apple
  • Ebay
  • Facebook
  • Google
  • Habbo
  • Hotmail
  • Microsoft
  • Nike
  • P90X
  • Paypal
  • Ralph Lauren
  • Runescape
  • Ugg
  • Walmart
  • Yahoo

This is an incomplete list, and additional brand names and trademarks may be prohibited.

Additionally, any type of official banking site will not be allowed due to issues with phishing scams. Below are a list of examples that should be avoided when registering a new domain:

  • Bank
  • Bank Of America (BOA)
  • Barclays
  • Chase
  • Santander

Here are a few examples of unacceptable domain names:

  • appleproducts4sale.com
  • microsoftprotips.com
  • yahooaccountmanager.com
  • chaseloginsz.com
  • boaupdatestoday.com

When Choosing Your Domain Name

Please use your best judgment when registering a domain name. While a trademarked company may not be listed above, it is important to be proactive and make sure you are not imitating or infringing on a public entity. All domain registrars must adhere to ICANN's UDRP. Additional information is included in the domain registration agreement you were required to accept when choosing us as your registrar.
