Hiding Your Site From Search Engines

Everyone wants their website to be easily found online, which is why we have tools built into the editor to Optimize Your Site SEO and instructions for How to Submit your Site to Search Engines.

However, suppose you find yourself making significant design changes, updating duplicate or out-of-date content, or hosting gated content on your site and don't want your website to appear in Google searches. In that case, you have the option to hide your website. 

  1. Start by clicking the Edit Site button and going into the website editor.

  2. Once inside, click the Manage option in the left-hand menu, with the gear icon next to it.

  3. Next, click the Advanced tab within the pop-up menu.

  4. A window will appear, and at the top of the window, you'll see a box that says, Hide Site From Search Engines

  5. Check the box and hit Save to hide your site while making changes. 
    click save
  6. Finally, click Publish to ensure search engines do not index this site.
    click Publish

Note: Be sure to turn the site back to being visible and publish when you are finished making changes and would like your site to appear on search engines again.
