Billing Portal - PayPal Billing Agreements

The PayPal Billing Agreements page allows you to create a billing agreement, as well as link you to the page to manage your existing subscriptions or agreements. PayPal Billing Agreements allow you to use your PayPal account for any charges to your account automatically.

What does this mean for me?

This means that you will be able to use your PayPal account the same was as you would otherwise be able to use a credit card on file. This allows you to approve HostGator to automatically invoice you for all of the packages and services you purchase without creating a subscription for each one.

Create a Billing Agreement

You can create a billing agreement any time you purchase a new product or service that allows you to make your first payment via PayPal by selecting to use PayPal Agreement.

Additionally, you can create a PayPal agreement directly from your billing portal without an invoice using the following steps:

How to Create a Billing Agreement

  1. Log into your Billing Portal.
  2. Select PayPal from the Billing section of the menu:
    Payment Agreements location.
  3. In the PayPal Billing Agreements Information section, select Start PayPal Agreement:
    Payments link location.
  4. Log into the PayPal page that loads:
    Paypal login page.
  5. Select the payment method you wish to use by clicking Change > if your preferred default is not shown, then click Agree & Continue:

You will now have successfully created a PayPal billing agreement and should be re-directed back to your Billing Portal!

Manage Subscriptions and Agreements

To manage your existing subscriptions and agreements please click the link below to be taken to PayPal where you can directly modify your existing pre-approved payments:

Note: The following URL will take you directly to the PayPal site and require you to log into your account before allowing you to view and manage your pre-approved payments, agreements, and subscriptions.

Cancel a Subscription

To avoid the challenges of using and managing a subscription and to take advantage of the features of a billing agreement, you may wish to cancel your existing subscriptions after creating a new billing agreement.

How to Cancel a Subscription

  1. Navigate to the PayPal My preapproved payments link provided above.
  2. You will need to identify the correct subscription and click the Merchant link for the correct pre-approved payment:

    Note: All agreements and subscriptions from HostGator will appear similar, however, all Subscriptions will have a Cancel Subscription button at the bottom of the payment page.
  3. Click the Cancel Subscription button.
  4. Confirm the cancellation to complete the subscription cancellation process.

Cancel a Billing Agreement

Billing agreements can be canceled and once canceled they cannot be resumed. A new billing agreement can be established using the steps in this article should you prefer automatic payments.

How to Cancel a Billing Agreement

  1. Navigate to the PayPal My preapproved payments link provided above.
  2. You will need to identify the correct subscription and click the Merchant link for the correct pre-approved payment:

    Note: All agreements and subscriptions from HostGator will appear similar, however, your billing agreement will not have a Cancel Subscription button at the bottom.
  3. Click the link labeled Cancel near the top of the payment page:

  4. Confirm your cancellation when prompted to complete the cancellation.
