{"id":7110,"date":"2013-12-26T17:09:40","date_gmt":"2013-12-26T22:09:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hostgator.com\/blog\/?p=7110"},"modified":"2016-05-04T16:12:00","modified_gmt":"2016-05-04T21:12:00","slug":"bee-cave-west-pole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hostgator.com\/blog\/bee-cave-west-pole\/","title":{"rendered":"Bee Cave and The West Pole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been quite a while since <a title=\"we shared private conversations from our internal Instant Message conference rooms\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hostgator.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/30\/an-intruder\/\" target=\"_blank\">we shared private conversations from our internal Instant Message conference rooms<\/a>.\u00a0 It is often true that, as we diligently work throughout the day on our many initiatives and projects, hilarity is often ensuing in the various conference rooms.<\/p>\n<p>This particular conversation was initiated by an employee in the Austin office innocently mentioning their desire for certain cookies that would necessitate a trip to Trader Joe&#8217;s in the neighboring town of Bee Cave, Texas.\u00a0 This resulted in the following conversation taking place.\u00a0 Before we proceed, for anyone unfamiliar, &#8220;TIL&#8221; is an acronym for &#8220;Today, I learned&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p>(10:08:04 AM) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Isaac:<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bee_Cave,_Texas\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bee_Cave,_Texas<\/a><br \/>\n(10:08:11 AM) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Isaac:<\/span> TIL there is such a thing as a west pole<br \/>\n(10:08:17 AM) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Isaac:<\/span> And it&#8217;s Bee Cave 0_o<\/p>\n<p>While just about everyone is familiar with the North and South Poles, none of us knew that there was such thing as a West Pole.\u00a0 However, the Wikipedia page does state: &#8220;In 2007, the Texas Legislature declared the <a title=\"The West Pole, Texas\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_West_Pole,_Texas\">West Pole<\/a> of the Earth to be located in Bee Cave, TX.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>(10:09:39 AM) <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Neil:<\/span> TIL that the Texas Legislature is Science-illiterate.<br \/>\n(10:11:38 AM) <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Austin:<\/span> Um&#8230;Their logic is really off here: 'As there are recognized and generally accepted North and South Poles on Planet Earth, there too must be East and West Poles.&#8221; &#8230;They are negating the Earth is three dimensions&#8230;<br \/>\n(10:12:01 AM) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Isaac:<\/span> Austin, you and I both know it&#8217;s flat, cause Texas.<br \/>\n(10:12:08 AM) <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Austin:<\/span> &#8216;Merica<br \/>\n(10:28:00 AM) <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\">Austin:<\/span> Think there is a physical pole up yet?<br \/>\n(10:28:29 AM) <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Davon:<\/span> I think I&#8217;ll put one out there with an HG flag when I go out there for cookies.<\/p>\n<div style=\"float: right; padding-right: 5px; padding-left: 5px; padding-top: 5px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"west_pole\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hostgator.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/west_pole.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"268\" height=\"217\" \/><\/div>\n<p>So far, so good, however things then got exceptionally weird when the actual piece of legislation was located: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.legis.state.tx.us\/tlodocs\/80R\/billtext\/pdf\/HR02933F.pdf#navpanes=0\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.legis.state.tx.us\/tlodocs\/80R\/billtext\/pdf\/HR02933F.pdf#navpanes=0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adopted by the House of Representatives on May 28th, 2007, this legislation states that Texas has all of the following (and we&#8217;re not even joking, please go read the exact text at the above link): bluer skies, redder sunsets, faster horses, more unique animals, the most beautiful wildflowers, fatter deer, oranger longhorns, more beautiful women, smarter children, and kinder men.<\/p>\n<p>Now, as Texans we most certainly love our great state of Texas, but how is it even remotely possible to put some of these grandiose claims into an actual piece of legislation?\u00a0 For example:<\/p>\n<p>(10:31:30 AM) <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Muntek:<\/span> Rofl, oranger longhorns<br \/>\n(10:32:18 AM) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Isaac:<\/span> Wow<br \/>\n(10:32:24 AM) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Isaac:<\/span> Just reading the first paragraph<br \/>\n(10:33:17 AM) <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Davon:<\/span> So I can literally say, I&#8217;m gonna have to drive to the West Pole for cookies.<\/p>\n<p>And drive to the West Pole for cookies, he did.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been quite a while since we shared private conversations from our internal Instant Message conference rooms.\u00a0 It is often true that, as we diligently work throughout the day on our many initiatives and projects, hilarity is often ensuing in the various conference rooms.
