Younger consumers especially like BNPL, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/buy-now-pay-later\/2020\/bnpl-poised-to-light-up-covid-holidays-with-affordability\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">40% of the youngest group of millennials<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also reach customers who don\u2019t have credit cards but have debit cards. And you can reach the customers with the most money to spend: 51% of BNPL shoppers earn more than $100K per year, according to PYMNTS magazine. That\u2019s why designer brands like Theory, Jimmy Choo and Mansur Gavriel offer Buy Now, Pay Later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Is there a downside for customers?<\/strong> Missed payments can lead to costly late fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-does-buy-now-pay-later-do-for-your-business\">What does Buy Now, Pay Later do for your business?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By letting a BNPL company handle installment payments for your store, you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostgator.com\/blog\/online-fraud-prevention-holiday-shopping\/\">reduce your risk of payment fraud<\/a>. Because you get paid upfront by the Buy Now, Pay Later provider, you don\u2019t have to worry about a customer failing to make their remaining payments-that\u2019s the BNPL vendor\u2019s issue (although you should always read the terms to verify). And you don\u2019t have to go to the trouble of setting up your own recurring payment plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You also get some marketing momentum when you partner with a Buy Now, Pay Later provider, because your store will appear in their shopping directory, so you can win new customers-including customers from other countries that are served by your BNPL provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may also see an increase in revenue. PayPal Pay in 4<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paypal.com\/us\/business\/buy-now-pay-later\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pay in 4<\/a> is included in PayPal Checkout, so you may already be offering a Buy Now, Pay Later option without having to do anything else.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cost for merchants: <\/strong>2.90% + 0.30 USD per transaction. The extension for WooCommerce is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-klarna\">2. Klarna<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.klarna.com\/us\/what-is-klarna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Klarna<\/a> integrates with most ecommerce sites and has an online shopping portal (Klarna Stores) and an app that lets shoppers use Klarna at any online store or in-store. Klarna users can earn rewards as they shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/xFqM9AWkTV9-XOmeNpT_I88yqVhZ90Hl67DJ303vi9Iz6_QgjCu2mXqivRglNORRtMJX6bTCvbGj46mLXt4071KM46YIai_EeH5cS4QFol0bMHmvmFLWWFAvDBKJbVCH_YFXrw1POVzzdteL3A\" alt=\"example of buy now pay later with klarna\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cost for merchants:<\/strong> up to 5.99% + 0.30 USD per transaction. The Klarna Payments extension for WooCommerce is free.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-afterpay\">3. Afterpay&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.afterpay.com\/index\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Afterpay<\/a>, like Klarna and Affirm, integrates with eCommerce sites, has an online shopping portal and an app, and offers customers deals at their partner merchant\u2019s stores.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/xZosZ9XwAVNFWO1M9ZzEFDbZj-ISkQTJttr2kwjwQrVPt00uIpYej780g6A5eVFBB5zMPhqzsMCs4rBCuyCgmBbw1Jc4FOTwlripLeQZE3sFRJ4eE9DDNPORY6ad2PIB_B4L81Dfvs2cqF-jog\" alt=\"afterpay checkout example\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cost for merchants:<\/strong> Afterpay doesn\u2019t list merchant fees on its website. Business Insider reports that transaction fees range from 3% to 6% of the order total. Afterpay\u2019s WooCommerce plugin is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-affirm\">4. Affirm&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.affirm.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Affirm<\/a> offers many of the same features as Afterpay and Klarna-an app, a shopping portal, and special deals with partner merchants.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/IrkCMiuXORIi6l5b-rshdmmheHsfB-EaDu5PP24741os8gQcTW7ays8m24x8sfC_nQR5uiWuXhT-1Q3LKs5jWW1eaaJgq3cTi-cpXUdkjivtjciGJd_c6vCZ_Z1nkXPUyIM4_itoJQhMh0xq_w\" alt=\"buy now pay later with affirm\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But Affirm lets shoppers spread payments over a longer time-up to 36 months for big-ticket orders, gives customers a choice of payment plans and charges interest on some plans.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cost to merchants:<\/strong> Affirm doesn\u2019t list fees on its site, but trade publication Merchant Maverick reports that transaction fees range from 2% to 3% of order totals. Affirm\u2019s WooCommerce payment gateway extension costs $49\/year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-set-up-buy-now-pay-later-on-your-woocommerce-website\">How to set up Buy Now, Pay Later on your WooCommerce website<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve reviewed your options, compared the fees and made a decision, it\u2019s time to set things up. <strong>First, as always, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostgator.com\/blog\/backup-wordpress-site-without-plugin\/\"><strong>back up your site<\/strong><\/a>, just in case installation and setup don\u2019t go as planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-paypal\">PayPal<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To add PayPal (which includes Pay in 4) to your WooCommerce store, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/woocommerce.com\/woocommerce-and-paypal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WooCommerce + PayPal page<\/a> and click Get PayPal Checkout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then you\u2019ll download the PayPal Checkout extension:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/muhpS9dQUvYrgzG4fggsfhU7Byiqvqtt5heIFnZqVziBDo8Ku6gBcGEBcv8sBS5eyV7u7p0FV7GAE0oTkHg3k545Vp4bqGK6B6LCmogQq0uZHQloJ0X8GWM7hBa50ZohKeM8uBcbM03fwL7Pbw\" alt=\"paypal checkout plugin for woocommerce\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After it\u2019s installed, you\u2019ll need to go into your settings and activate Buy Now, Pay Later by <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.woocommerce.com\/document\/paypal-express-checkout\/#section-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">adjusting your PayPal Credit (Pay Later) message settings<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-klarna\">Klarna<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>WooCommerce users will find two Klarna options in the Extensions Store, but only one works for merchants selling in the U.S. and Canada, and that\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/woocommerce.com\/products\/klarna-payments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Klarna Payments<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.woocommerce.com\/document\/klarna-payments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">For Klarna to work properly<\/a>, your WooCommerce settings must support pretty permalinks, anchor links and prices displayed to two decimal places.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once installed and activated the Klarna plugin in WordPress, go to the WooCommerce tab on your dashboard. Select Settings, then Payments and then Enable Klarna Payments. You can then customize the description that will display in your checkout, choose to add a 'What Is Klarna?'\u009d link to your checkout page, and make other customizations, including settings for each country you want to sell into.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-afterpay\">Afterpay<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First, download the <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/afterpay-gateway-for-woocommerce\/#installation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Afterpay Gateway for WooCommerce plugin<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then go to your WordPress admin dashboard to install and activate the plugin. Then go to the WooCommerce tab on your dashboard, open Settings, choose Checkout, select Afterpay and enter your credentials.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-affirm\">Affirm<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit WooCommerce\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/woocommerce.com\/products\/woocommerce-gateway-affirm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Affirm Payment Gateway<\/a> page and buy the extension. You\u2019ll get a ZIP file to upload to the Plugins section of your WordPress admin dashboard. After uploading, install the plugin and then activate it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, you\u2019ll need to configure the plugin to customize it for your site.
