It needs to be a topic worthy of 30 minutes to an hour of their time, so think big.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your webinar could tackle a:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Business problem, like how to finance growth.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Technical challenge, like how to implement cybersecurity for remote workers.<\/li><li>Marketing challenge, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostgator.com\/blog\/resources\/how-to-use-google-search-console-to-rock-your-seo\/\">how to use data to improve your website\u2019s SEO<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about the customer questions you get most often. Then, pick one that needs discussing at length and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostgator.com\/blog\/host-webinar-guide\/\">host a webinar<\/a> on that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-can-answer-your-customer-questions\">Who can answer your customer questions?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your webinar hosts can be in-house experts, business partners or guests who are well-known in your industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure they\u2019re comfortable with presenting and answering viewer questions in real time. And make sure they\u2019re available for some of the other stuff, like drafting a script, having a practice session and answering post-webinar questions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-draft-a-script-and-a-slide-deck\">Draft a script and a slide deck<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Wait, <strong>a script and a deck?<\/strong> Don\u2019t bail out now. Writing webinar scripts and decks isn\u2019t hard if you follow a few guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Set a time-based word target.<\/strong> Most people speak at about 150 words a minute. If you\u2019re planning a 30-minute presentation, limit your script to 4,500 words max   but you only need that many words if you\u2019re writing a full script that your speakers will read word for word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Decide on notes or a full script.<\/strong> If your speakers are experienced presenters, you may only need a brief outline to remind them to hit the main points and examples for each slide. That can save you a lot of time on writing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you write notes or a full script, include directions on when the presenter should <strong>[click]<\/strong> to advance to the next slide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Decide how many slides you\u2019ll need. <\/strong>There are so many guidelines and 'rules'\u009d about the number of slides. Our version: Stick to at least one slide per two minutes and add more if you need them. Send your webinar attendees a follow-up email with a link to the webinar recording, a downloadable slide deck or other resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-pick-your-platform\">Pick your platform<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s probably Zoom, but whatever webinar platform you use, check well ahead of time to make sure you have the kind of account you need for your speakers, the number of attendees you expect and the time you\u2019ll need. When it\u2019s live, you can promote it for a couple of weeks through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Social media posts and ads<\/li><li>Email lists<\/li><li>Your company blog and website banners<\/li><li>Press releases<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But first, check for typos'\u00a6<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-proofread-everything\">Proofread everything<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Use your favorite spellchecker on the script or notes, the deck, your landing page copy and your promo copy. Then ask someone else to read over everything, too. Ask your speakers to check their names, contact info and biographies as well as their presentation sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then look at everything again if any changes are made so you don\u2019t serve up surprises during the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-practice-your-presentation\">Practice your presentation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a full run-through with everyone to check your script, slides, timing, presenter backgrounds, audio levels, camera angles and whether you can record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you run into problems, fix them and then do another run through.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-presentation-day-checklist\">Presentation day checklist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow these steps for a smooth presentation day:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Have everyone who\u2019s speaking log in at least 15 minutes early for a final sound, video and background check.<\/li><li>Open your presentation, put up your welcome slide and share your screen.<\/li><li>Hit 'record.'\u009d&nbsp;<\/li><li>Start on time. Maybe give it two minutes to let late arrivers log on while you cover housekeeping basics like how to ask questions in chat, but respect attendees\u2019 time.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Start your presentation!<\/li><li>Answer questions from your audience.<\/li><li>Thank everyone and share your contact info again in case viewers want to follow up.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-post-event-follow-up-and-analysis\">Post-event follow-up and analysis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After the event, stop recording and thank your presenters.<\/strong> Once the recording has processed, you can share the link and any other items you promised to your attendees. You might want to include a quick follow up survey about the webinar, too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also use the recording to create a view-on-demand version of the webinar.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch for email or voicemail follow-ups from your attendees and answer them promptly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Check your analytics. <\/strong>How many people attended? How did they find your landing page? Did they view the whole webinar? Did they contact you afterward?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use all the info to plan your next webinar.
