  • HostGator Volunteers For The Holidays!

Snappy with HostGator Houston Food Drive Donation BoxThe holidays are one of those unique times of year where we spend a lot of our time shopping for ourselves and those close to us, but we also donate our time volunteering to causes we care about and people we may never meet. At HostGator, things are no different. Our team has been up to some pretty impressive volunteering work lately, if we do say so ourselves. Check it out...

    Local Food Drives in November

Last month, our Houston and Austin offices organized food drives for our local food banks, Houston Food Bank and Central Texas Food Bank. To make it fun, we split the offices up into teams. A little competition never hurt anyone, right? In Austin, eight teams donated food items to the Central Texas Food Bank. Our total donation came to 532 pounds! According to the Central Texas Food Bank, that equals...

    532 pounds of food = 444 meals!

Even better, the winning purple team chose to forego their prize of unlimited gloating and an exclusive pizza party to donate the $250 budget to the Central Texas Food Bank, which is another 2,000 meals! Thanks to all of our generous employees who donated to families in need, and especially to the winners of the purple team: Robin, Robert, John, Guadalupe, Thomas, John, Aspen, Thomas, Jeremy, Brandon, Lindsay, Gary, Ross, Bajram, Tom, Rowina, David, Michael, Nicholas, Xaviar, Kaneko, Joseph, Morgan, Jonathan, and Amy! Clothing and Toy Donations in December

Endurance and HostGator Volunteers with Blue SantaThe November food drive was just the beginning. We had caught the volunteering bug! Last week, HostGator staff teamed up with some of our fellow colleagues at Endurance International Group to volunteer at Operation Blue Santa. We spent an afternoon packing toys and food donations for Austin families in need. Next up, we're collecting donations for Toys for Tots and Front Steps, an organization which provides clothing to homeless living under the I-35 bridge in Austin. • May 2012 Newsletter

    Monday, May 21, 2012 by
As promised, we are back with another Newsletter this month.  It was a great month here at Gator Headquarters; we've been hiring like mad in order to continue to provide you with top-notch support.  We're also very close to the release of some additional new features.  Some things are in beta testing right now, but in keeping with our other promise (to not bait you with any "coming soon" things), we're going to refrain from identifying the specifics of these features at this time.  However, the feedback we have received from the beta-testers has been nothing but positive.  Hopefully, we can officially speak on these by next month.  We realize this is arguably similar to saying something is "coming soon," but we digress.  In the meantime, we've been up to some good deeds and some good eats this month.  Here is what we can speak on at this moment:

    The 2012 Tour du Rouge:

HostGator are proud to have once again presented the Tour du Rouge, benefiting the Gulf Coast American Red Cross!  The bicycle ride, which covers the 526 miles between Houston and New Orleans, took place between May 6-11, 2012.  Please be sure to keep an eye on for an up-coming post that will cover this event in more depth, including a first-hand account from a HostGator Admin that participated in the ride this year.

    Gators Gonna Clean:

Texas has some beautiful landscapes and rivers.  Unfortunately, these often become sullied with litter and other refuse.  Our Austin office has been organizing and executing cleaning details for the area rivers, and we are shortly expanding this operation to our Houston office as well.  Gators enjoy clean habitats, please think twice before littering.  Here's some pictures from the most recent cleanup:

    Gators Gonna Eat:

We celebrated crawfish season with a massive crawfish boil at our new building, or more specifically in the parking garage of our new building.  Gators and families alike came out to enjoy some delicious mudbugs:

    Some Numbers:

It looks like this month we had more calls and chats than last month, but fewer tickets. Here's our Support statistics for the month of April, 2012:

    141,992 Chats

    75,611 Calls

    198,385 Tickets

Until next month!  Remember: We Are Hiring!
  • April Newsletter May 10, 2012

    Sunday, May 2, 2010 by
Gator Happenings Well, it's been quite a month here at HostGator. We had what we thought at first was a very cruel late April fools joke played on us.  HostGator purchased a 102,000 Sqft building in Austin, TX as we have simply ran out of space here in our 4 story Houston headquarters. There are cubes on top of cubes it seems here and we are now finishing up construction on our 3rd, yes 3rd addtional parking lot!  We were set to close on the new Austin building April 20th, at that time we sent our money to the mortgage company and waited on our bank to send the remaining amount (4 Million USD). The mortgage company received OUR money, however our bank seemed to have sent 4 Million to an unknown source... April fools!?!?  I'm proud to say we've since figured out “the case of the missing 4 million” and our office building in Austin is now secured. Blog post about the entire issue is in works, so stay tuned. We need new gators! As mentioned above, we're growing so fast that we cannot hire enough people. You would think it would be simple, with so many people out there that use the Internet and build websites, to find qualified employees. We need our customers help!  Currently we are hiring Phone/Chat front line agents and Linux Administrators.  Check out our Jobs page and apply as we need to fill a new office and continue the growth at our Houston headquarters.  Please, we beg of you, come make some money with HostGator! .  Unfortuantely we are only taking applications from those who currently have the legal right to work in the United States. We also have a referral program, so if you know someone, send them our way.  Check out the payouts per referral:
    Referral Payout:
    Linux Administrator: $2,500
    Windows Administrator: $2,500
    Chat/Phone Reps $500
For more details see: New Swamp in Austin, TX So lets talk a little about Austin since I've brought it up. Our Houston headquarters is 25,000 SQFT, which is mostly now all cubes for our sales/support team.  If you have ever been to Houston you know that most of the roads always have on-going construction.  This is true with our Houston headquarters as well. Since I've been here (2007) we have been knocking walls down, moving offices and running cables to make room for more employees.
