The Official HostGator Company Blog!

Hostgator Dotcom (aka Billy the Billboard)

Many will remember “Billy the Human Billboard“, who we covered in our previous blog post after he received a HostGator tattoo on the back of his neck. Billy’s HostGator tattoo has sparked a range of responses from: people asking to get this done, outrage, and even proposed boycotts.

Someone even went as far as to compare HostGator with human traffickers as you can see in the video below:

Billy has gone on to receive additional tattoos from other companies (27 and counting), moving him closer to his goal of having the most tattoo advertisements in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Since then, Billy is no longer “Billy the Human Billboard”, as he has legally changed his name to “Hostgator Dotcom”.

Anyone find it interesting that both videos use the same background and font for their intros? The dissenter is also a brand new account.

I smell an attempt at a viral campaign not thought through very well.

    This is a king sick….

  3. James says:

Props to HostGator dot com for being an organ donor.

  4. Chad Bean says:

@James: Not just an organ donor, a living organ donor.

  5. Kevin Hazard says:

I think the best part of the whole thing is the fact that his middle name is still “Mel.”

  6. Tristan says:

Now I want to switch to another hosting company…

  7. Nocturne says:

I like the punched in door in the back of the vid.

  8. Joel says:

That is awesome. Go Hostgator Dotcom ftw!

  9. Ryan from NJ says:

Its a free country, so if people are willing to get paid to tattoo themselves with brand logos, then hey, its their choice. Common Sense people.

Off topic, its nice to see The Planet’s Evangelical visiting one of his customer’s websites.

  10. Mark says:

Pretty sad hostgator is willing to pay someone to do something they know is foolish and stupid.

  11. Chris says:

Though I support Host Gator (the website), I find this absolutely disgusting.

First of all, by this video and previous videos, obviously something is not right with this guy. Secondly, the fact that HostGator paid a “large sum of money” in support of this guy (who again clearly has something wrong with him) just bothers me. I feel as if you have taken advantage of someone by waving money in there face.

    Sorry HostGator

  12. PatrickP says:

I don’t think there’s anything ‘sad’ or wrong with our company having a little sense of humor ;)

  13. Chris says:

  20. That Guy John says:

@Russ… This is Hostgator’s company blog.. so why wouldn’t it be on this domain?

  21. kat says:

How much would you guys pay him if he had a child named Hostgator Mel Dotcom Jr.? =)

  22. Ron says:

I’m now thinking of changing my name to Billy Mel Gibby. I wonder if he would pay me. I just want to be more like him. I’d be interested in what he thinks of a “large sum of money” is.

  23. scotty says:

I love it! dont see it as “stupid”, for him it clearly doesnt matter, only for those tight-ass “civilians” who clearly want to walk with the masses, and do (and say) everything society demands from them…TIGHTASSES!!!

this is a man with some balls hangin’ still…
    you checked them resently?

I went to jr high and high school with that guy, swear to god. He used to tell everyone that he had been abducted by aliens. He wore turtle necks every single day, and he said he did so because it hid the marks left from aliens. He also told everyone his dad was moving him to alaska, so he could train for the olympics…he was a weird fucking dude!
